En Like a Child
You'll want to take a moment and let this number sink in—3.4 billion.
There are 3.4 billion people in the world today who have never heard the gospel.
That's almost half of the entire world. *
And part of this staggering figure is countless children—children who have something to teach us. In Mark 10, Jesus tells us that to enter His Kingdom, we must become like little children (Mark 10:15).
Children like Kael.
At just four years old, Kael didn't know any theology or big truths, but he understood something important: when someone wants to be your friend, you want to be theirs too. That's how simple it is. And maybe that's what adults forget—loving Jesus isn't complicated; it's as simple as saying "yes."
At such a young age, this Brazilian boy's smile could light up any place, especially as he played in the park. On this day as he played, he saw two people come up to his mom with colourful Scripture magazines. Curious, Kael rushed over and started talking to them. He learned that the people belonged to a local church.
The church members kept talking with kindness, asking Kael if he knew Jesus, but he didn't really know how to respond to them. They went on to introduce him to Jesus in a way the four-year-old could easily understand: "Jesus created the whole earth, and the heavens, and He wants to be your friend."
That was the key—meeting a child at his level, relating the gospel message back to him in a simple way that the young boy would understand. Kael didn't hesitate: "I want to be His friend too!"
That simple answer opened his mother's heart. They group prayed together, and when they finished, they asked Kael if there was anything he wanted to say to Jesus. Kael said with a smile that spoke louder than words: "I want to tell Him that I love Him."
Before leaving, the church team gave Kael and his mom the ShareWord Scripture magazines filled with Christ's message of hope. Inside was the address of their church. Both mother and son walked away that day excited, promising to come to the church, and holding a gift that reminded them Jesus loves them—just as He loves every person, every child.
"I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn't receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it." Mark 10:15
