You Need to Go Back
It’s a feeling you’ve probably had at some point in your life, even if you’ve never said it out loud.
You leave a conversation, but deep down, you know it’s not over. It’s like something inside you is pulling you back to someone you barely know—but feel like you need to see again.
That’s what happened to Yerusha.
She was part of a ShareWord Global GO Trip, a mission trip where believers travel to different countries to partner with local churches and share the message of Christ.
On this particular Sunday, the team was pausing from outreach at the Docks in Belém, Brazil, to hunt down some souvenirs to bring home. During her search, Yerusha found herself casually chatting with a shopkeeper there, Natalia. It was a simple, forgettable moment. But as she walked away, the Holy Spirit tugged at her heart with a holy pressure: “Go back to her.”
It wasn’t out of guilt. But just a quiet nudge. And Yerusha listened.
She returned with a copy of the Hope magazine for Natalia—a ShareWord Global Scripture resource filled with inspiring Bible verses and the Gospel of John. Yerusha began sharing the message of Jesus with Natalia, starting with John 3:16. Then she flipped to the back of the magazine where God’s plan of salvation is clearly explained, and walked Natalia through it with kindness and care.
Natalia saw the page with sections explaining God’s love, our human condition, God’s plan to save us, and the steps to begin a personal relationship with Him. As Yerusha spoke, she related the message to parenting and sin. Natalia nodded along slowly, her eyes filling up with tears.
What Yerusha didn’t know was that Natalia’s heart was ready. You could see it in her face—something deep inside was changing. With sincerity, Natalia said that receiving the magazine was exactly the hope she had been searching for.
Then came a sacred moment.
Natalia made the decision to receive Christ in her life. Tears flowed as she prayed a simple but powerful prayer. Afterwards, Natalia shared her battle with depression. Both women cried—because this wasn’t just a conversation. It was a divine appointment that left both of them in awe—and they knew neither of them would ever be the same.
Yerusha wanted to make sure Natalia had support in her new life. So, with the help of Gui—Yerusha’s translator and a local contact—she helped Natalia get connected to a nearby Christian community. As they exchanged contact information, something special came up—part of Natalia’s name is “dos Anjos,” which means “of angels.”
It was like a message from heaven, reminding the women of Luke 15:10:
“…there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.”
Now, heaven is celebrating Natalia. And it all started with a small prompting in Yerusha’s heart.
A quiet whisper:
“Go back.”
It was a moment that she could have ignored. But Yerusha obeyed. And the Holy Spirit moved, leading to a life-changing transformation.
God’s plans are bigger than we can ever imagine. He can use even the smallest moments to do something amazing—if we’re willing to listen and follow His gentle lead.
So, what about you?
Maybe God is whispering something to your heart too.
Don’t ignore it.
