Standing Watch, Seeking Peace
Sometimes the most unexpected conversations happen right in the middle of everyday life. That’s what took place on the streets of Chichigalpa, Nicaragua.
There some of our local partners met Ramón, a 57-year-old community security guard. Curious, he asked what they were handing out as they went door to door.
When they told him they were sharing the gospel, he was reluctant to listen. But as the conversation continued, his posture shifted. He grew more open, listening carefully as they shared the message of Jesus through the Esperanza (Hope) magazine. They explained that true peace is found only in Christ.
Their words moved Ramón and caused him to open up about his own life. He shared that his home environment was filled with problems—and that discouragement had weighed heavily on him. With humility, he asked for prayer for himself and for his family.
Right there, they prayed over him, asking God to bring peace to his home and strength to his heart. Ramón returned to his watch, but something had changed.
Days later, when the team saw him again, his face told a different story. Smiling, he shared that he now felt joyful and happy—“Thanks to God.”
