It Started with Snow

Snow may be the last thing you want to think about right now, but in Brazil, it sparked a powerful conversation. During a recent Gospel Outreach Trip, the sounds of splashing water and children’s laughter filled the air at a local day camp. In the middle of all the fun, one simple moment stood out—one that started with snow and turned into something much deeper.

Becky, a GO Trip team member from Canada, knows what it’s like to feel left out. She has faced her own struggles with rejection and disability, so she brought quiet strength and kindness into every conversation. While enjoying the warm sun by the pool, she connected with a couple of campers, and one girl, in particular, who was around 12 years old. Becky shared stories about life in Canada—snowy winters, building snow forts, even service dogs. The girl listened closely, her face lighting up with wonder at things she had never experienced.

As they kept talking, the conversation turned to something more personal. Becky asked about church and faith. The girl’s smile faded, and she quietly said she didn’t go to church. Becky gently offered to pray for her, and the girl quickly said yes. They ended their time with a hug—a silent way of showing how much the moment meant.

This special moment didn’t happen during a planned activity. It came from being present, curious, and kind. And it reminded Becky that God often works through the smallest seeds.
